Hey! I'm Nimble, and I've been playing Minecraft for over 14 years! I made this website as a way to document my history in the community, as up until now it's all scattered across defunct forum posts, and my own brain. It's a fun hobby to document everything on a little website, feels like old times when everybody had their own blog - their own corner of the internet.

How I found Minecraft

In 2011, the only game I really played was Club Penguin. Whilst I was at a caravan park on vacation (closet USA equivalent would be a campground/RV park) a friend introduced me to Minecraft, we all sat around his laptop and took turns playing the game. I remember he had some sort of fancy cheat menu to spawn in blocks, this was before singleplayer commands even existed. I ended up purchasing the game myself, and learned how to play through Paulsoaresjr's How to Survive and Thrive series. At first, I didn't even know how to break blocks! I would spam click instead of holding down left click. I have so many good memories of watching Paul's tutorials and MinecraftDad series. Eventually many of the Club Penguin YouTubers I watched at the time such as CPBroadcast and ThinkNoodles also moved to Minecraft related content, and the rest is history!

Fun fact: The reason I even own 2 Minecraft accounts is because when I moved computer, I thought that meant I have to buy a whole new game/license to continue playing - This was 2011, and I was very young, don't blame me! "Sophie" was my original account, "Nimble" was my second account after I got a new device.

The history behind the username Nimble

When Mojang added the ability to change your username in 2015 they also deleted all non-premium accounts, freeing a lot of desirable usernames. I decided on getting Nimble because I was playing the mobile game Tiny Tower at the time, which is made by the game studio NimbleBit. I'm also a big fan of parkour, even to this day, making the username perfect for my play style. I obtained this username on my phone during my school's morning recess!

Minecraft Server Retrospective

A retrospective on some of the Minecraft servers that left the longest lasting impression on me through the years. Note: A lot of this information is based on my own memory, so details may be inaccurate.

HardlyMinecraft

The first server I can ever remember playing. It was a pretty basic SMP server, but had a very nice community. Not sure how I found it, must've just been on Google. The owners were im_evry_name and Jezwin. The spawn had a glowstone and water center, in a corner there was a sandstone pyramid, a nether brick structure and a big fence parkour course! There's actually still some videos of the server around and my old username can be seen in chat.

Skitscape

The first mini game server I played. This was franky extremely ahead of it's time, existing a year before even Hypixel or Hive existed. I remember mainly playing the spleef mini game, which had maps where the "snow" would instead be red or blue wool. Skit would also upload a lot of the episodes on the Machinima YouTube channel. I remember seeing Skitscape and AntVenom on the server quite often! This server would also later host survival games as well.

The Herobrine

This was the first Minecraft server I remember playing extensively. This server turned into the HiveMC Network. Back in these days, there wasn't any hub minigame servers, each instance of a minigame had its own unique IP you'd have to connect to, and you'd typically bookmark a page that showed each server's status and whether they were in lobby mode or currently in-game. I found the server as all the big YouTubers were promoting it at the time. The way the minigame worked was there a dozen or so survivors and one player would be randomly selected to be The Herobrine - who would be a puff of smoke, almost invisible. Herobrine had to kill all the survivors, and survivors had to get 3 shards and bring them to the alter to reveal Herobrine, making him much easier to kill. This server had that wonderful warm, tightly knit feeling that many servers had back in these days.

Blocktopia (Rituals of Fire)

This is perhaps the oldest minigame in the history of Minecraft, it existed even during Minecraft Classic. The premise is simple: You're in a bitesized Minecraft world, and have to create a base before lava starts rising. The lava has different speeds and intensities, the more intense the lava is the more blocks will melt. The minigame itself is pretty basic, but there was a vibrant community on the server. I vividly remember we had a group plug.dj page (which is basically like a songrequest website) and we'd all listen along together whilst hanging out, fishing, building fun parkour and slime block contraptions within our lava-proof base. I remember meeting XaPhobia on this server, who is the person who made the original Pigman texture! In between games there would be a "King of the Ladder" game which was always a fun little palette cleanser.

Multicube

Syndicate's Minecraft server, ran by CommunityMC who later helped run the Mianite series. I vividly remember having a paid rank on this server, and having some form of OP kit for their 1v1 sky wars server. This was before the big EULA crack down that happened in 2014, so pay to win was a thing. This was a wonderful server, and way ahead of it's time.

OrangeCraft

This was the official Annoying Orange Minecraft Server! It had a wonderful community, and I vividly remember playing KitPvP and the Creative world a ton. The fruits from the show would sometimes hop on the server, and you could play with them - they'd stay in character and it had the real vibe of being like Disney World's character meet and greets. I ended up making skins for Bobjenz (voice of Grapefruit) for some of his side characters, which he is still using to this day! I remember having fun trying to appear in as many Annoying Orange Gaming videos as possible through this server. And I was successful many times!

HiveMC

Hive was basically my home for many years. There were so many different sub-communities I got into within the server. Survival games was my favorite for quite a long time, I remember watching YouTubers such as SamHaribo. At least for the time, I was actually pretty decent at SG too, I once teamed up with Sam for a bunch of games, and even though he was considered one of the best at the time, he'd always just barely beat me. Then Trouble in Mineville was one of my favorites for a little bit - I remember watching TIMV YouTubers like Bobj0n. Later down the road I also got very heavily into Splegg, Death Run and their dropper game.

Mineplex

I had a pretty big phase where I played way more Mineplex than Hive. My favorite games was Dragon Escape (I knew all the fastest routes for the parkour!) and also Micro Battle. Their survival games lasted the test of time way more than Hive's too. I remember playing against CaptainSparklez back when he was a big promoter of the server. Draw My Thing was quite a lot of fun - I enjoyed playing the actual browser game on OMGPOP around the same time - I also loved Skitscape and Fawdz's series on it!

Wynncraft / CraftedCloud

I've been playing Wynncraft before it even had it's own server, I played it on CraftedMovie's server when it was in mega-beta. It was so ahead of it's time. I remember grinding to the initial level cap, and this was around the time name changes were happening, so in another life, my username could've became something Wynncraft related instead of Nimble. I remember watching IgbarVonsSquid's Wynncraft easter egg videos whilst grinding XP, there was a specific spot in a late game area where you'd stand on a tree and kill zombies. I also really enjoyed InTheLittleWood's lets play on the server, and vividly remember his video of him getting to the other side of the Gavel gate before it was released.

In 2025, I started playing Wynncraft again. Due to how old my character was, I had completed 0 quests, but was level 75, the max level when I last played. I decided to start a completely fresh class and have been so impressed by how much it feels like it's own game within Minecraft now. In less than half the playtime, I'm already inching back to lvl 75. Progression is mainly quest-based and there isn't anywhere near as much mandatory grinding.

CraftedCloud was a wonderful SMP server with such a warm community. I miss them to this day! I remember instead of having /home they had a /bed command. They also had a /drunk command that would make you have nausea/slowness. CraftedMovie's videos on the server are so nostalgic to look back at! They also had a creative world which I remember building statues of myself and another player at the spawn of.

SpleefLeague

Found through a FitMC video, this server become one of my favorites due to the very friendly community, and my love of spleef - I used to play on Skitscape's spleef server way back in the day. Even when I was playing this server, spleef was already a very dead minigame, not many people played it anymore. But Fit's video really breathed life into the server for a couple years. I remember playing this server for hours on end, often playing against some of the most skilled players such as SpleefingSavage and Sellerino. To this day, I'm still sad that there's no big spleef or even splegg server to fill in the blank since SpleefLeague shut down.

Vanilla Legacy

Now known as PvP Legacy, it's a modern PvP server. I believe initially the server had little or even non-plugins, it was almost entirely a vanilla server. Back in the day it used to be mainly a KitPvP server with standard kits instead of OP kits. It was pretty casual, we mainly used it as a hangout hub, whilst still practicing our combat. Back when this server first started, modern PvP wasn't all that popular at all, people preferred the 1.8 spam clicking combat. So this server was such a breath of fresh air, and seeing the old maps still in the rotations brings me so much nostalgia! I'm very happy that this server is so successful, as for such a long while it wasn't popular at all, but when the new age of YouTubers came around it exploded in popularity. AoElite, the server owner, deserves all the success he's received.

Worst Java Realm Ever

Technically not a server, but this was the official realm of the Minecraft Discord. I met a lot of great friends through here, many I still talk to and play Minecraft with to this day! Before each map reset, we'd have a "TNT Day" where we'd destroy the entire server - which was backed up just before of course.

Hypixel

I was pretty late to the Hypixel train. I mainly played Hive as my server network of choice. But I eventually got into Bed Wars, finding it very addicting, and due to how popular it is, people weren't very sweaty, relatively. You'd be able to find a lobby that was fun without too many people that are too skilled. Bed Wars also had the opportunity to do a lot of fun challenges with friends, which I very much enjoyed - such as setting up traps and camping/hiding spots with punch bows and knockback sticks, some of my best gaming memories with my friends are from this era! I also enjoyed playing Murder Mystery, which basically feels like a micro version of Trouble in Mineville. I'm hoping they eventually update to the modern versions of Minecraft so we can get more advanced gamemodes.

Minr

One of the oldest servers in Minecraft. Primarily parkour, mazes and puzzles. All maps are made by community members who've obtained greenie rank - which you receive by beating Hardcore mode, which is a gauntlet of some of the hardest maps of all genres. It took me many years to beat Hardcore, as I kept getting stuck on specific puzzles and mazes. But once I finally beat it and received Green rank I was exstatic. To this day, I still hop on the server when community members host parties of playthroughs of hard maps, to add them to my completion list!

Minecraft Championship Island

For a long while I played To Get To The Other Side, but as of writing this I'm mainly playing on their fishing game. Which is pretty much an idle/social gametype. Very addicting. The community is very kind and I hope more servers go in this direction, with all the fancy custom textures and such.
